Eric Carle: Picture Writer
The Art of the Picture Book
Eric Carle: Picture Writer, The Art of the Picture Book is an intimate portrait of Eric Carle, now 82 and still at work in his studio making books and creating art.
This new documentary tells how Eric Carle creates a picture book from the inception of an idea to the final work. The film also tells the story of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, the museum Eric and his wife Barbara cofounded as way of giving back to children, parents, educators, and art lovers. Throughout the film Eric Carle's passion for creating picture books and the message that we can all be creative artists comes through. "I can do it, you can do it," he says.
Eric’s sense of connection to the child he once was and his sensitivity to each child’s unique nature will inspire audiences and classrooms, teachers, parents and young readers of Eric Carle's beloved books. Eric Carle: Picture Writer, The Art of the Picture Book taps into that deep creative need in each of us, a spirit that started in Eric as a very young child and is unceasing today.
